Dr. Brendon C. Mitchell recently returned as faculty at Rady Children’s Department of Orthopaedics as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopaedics with UC San Diego, where he completed his residency training. He is one of the region’s only dual fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons having completed fellowship training in both Pediatric Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. He serves patients across San Diego, Imperial, Riverside, and Orange counties. He also holds both a clinical and teaching presence at UC San Diego, where he participates in sports coverage helping to care for the San Diego Padres, UC San Diego Athletics, and San Diego Clippers G-League Affiliate.
A graduate of Colgate University and the University of Florida College of Medicine, Dr. Mitchell completed a Masters in Medical Sciences at Boston University, residency training at UC San Diego, followed by fellowships in Pediatric Orthopedics at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Sports Medicine at The Steadman Clinic (Vail, CO).
Dr. Mitchell’s clinical focus includes sports medicine and pediatric musculoskeletal trauma, with research interests in sports injuries of the shoulder, elbow, knee, and ankle, as well as pediatric fracture treatment. He is an active member of multiple multicenter research teams, including the ROCK, ROCK-Talus, and KORE study groups.
